I Believe – Help My Unbelief!

By |November 1st, 2013|Comments Off on I Believe – Help My Unbelief!|

I believe; help my unbelief. Is this statement a contradiction? I don’t think so. I can SO totally relate, can’t you? Have there been times you have felt this way?

And Jesus said to him, “’If you can’? All things are possible for one who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”—Mark 9:23-24

A father brought his son who was possessed by a spirit to Jesus for healing. He said to Jesus, “if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” Jesus, responded incredulously, “If I can?” He then said that what is needed from us – belief. Jesus said that everything – not certain things, not some things – […]

Hardened Hearts

By |October 31st, 2013|Comments Off on Hardened Hearts|

Did you know our hearts can harden? Even though we’ve seen God work in our lives in the past, why do we sometimes question his doing so today?
And Jesus, aware of this [their conversation], said to them [his disciples], “Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive or understand? Are your hearts hardened? Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do you not remember?”—Mark 8:17-18

In reading the verses before Acts 18:3, we discover that Paul left Athens and went to Corinth. He met a Jew (Aquila) and his wife (Priscilla). They were tentmakers – so was Paul. This scripture just states straight to the point that because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them. […]

Where is God?

By |October 23rd, 2013|Comments Off on Where is God?|

Are you wondering where God is? Do you feel totally alone or that God is nowhere around you? Well, according to Acts 17:27, that’s just not the case.
“that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us”—Acts 17:27
If we read earlier in Acts 17, we discover that while waiting for Silas and Timothy to join him, Paul was greatly troubled to see that Athens was full of idols. He began to reason with the Athenians in their marketplace and synagogue by preaching the good news about Jesus and the resurrection. Because some people thought Paul was discussing strange ideas, they asked him to […]
